Social media is an amazing platform for networking, communications, entertainment, awareness raising and marketing. It is widely used by over three billion people in the world as of this year.
The ability to share photos, opinions, events, etc in real-time has transformed the way we live and, also, the way we do business.
The following are a few tips on how to use social media effectively:
Online Friends - there is not doubt that there are good genuine people you may meet online and they become a part of your life, but there are also those who are bogus. Don’t automatically trust friend requests from strangers.
What You Post - remember that almost anything you post can be re-posted and it is never really entirely deleted. So you might want to share creditable information when you’re sharing news.
Networking - social media allows you to have access whoever you wish to, whenever and whoever.
Research - all sorts of information is online and on social media. Available for whoever wants to acquire it. You may conduct research and even surveys on social media.
Raise Awareness - social media platforms are great places to promote a cause! You can use a photo or video message to educate, raise awareness, and ask others to get involved.
In a nutshell, optimize your social media profiles, conduct research, make connections, conversations, and lastly, be a source of excellent content.
And like they continuously repeat at almost every internet governance forum, “the presence you keep offline, should be the same presence you keep online.”
On a final note, I will always recommend a social media break. It is important to not get too attached to social media or at least know how to manage your activeness on it.
